Beginning An On-line Business – Selecting The Right Domain Name

Selecting A Domain Name

In the business of building a giant number of Niche sites, domain names are visiting seemingly be your single largest value, or at least near the high if you’re outsourcing most of your work. Domain names are important for several reasons, not the smallest amount of which is that you don’t wish to be wasting cash on poor selection domain names. During this tutorial, I’m going to supply you with the knowledge you need to ensure you’re choosing the most appropriate domain name for your sites.

First, for those who do not grasp what a website name is, it’s simply the internet address of your site – espn.com could be a domain name, for example. A site name is an key step in getting set up and online. It’s the first factor your customers will see. You wish to form a great initial impression. Your potential customers can see your name in several completely different places:

1. Natural Search results like on Google, Yahoo and Microsoft search 2. Video Marketing 3. Pay Per Click Advertisements that you just run 4. Ezines / Newsletters that you publish or run ads in 5. Email and Forum Signatures 6. Off line advertising such as newspapers, spam, business cards or magazines.

There are a variety of things to think about when getting a site name(s). Here are the key issues you’ll need to run through previous to making your purchase:

Prime Domain Name Don’ts:

1. Don’t use excessive dashes in the domain name. 2. Do not use unrelated phrases in the domain name. 3. Do not use too several keywords in the domain name. 4. Do not repeat the primary keyword in the domain name.

Top Domain Dos:

1. Do use the primary keyword phrase in your domain name. 2. Be as specific as potential for your keyword phrase (long tail keyword phrases) 3. Place the primary keyword phrase at the beginning of the domain name. 4. Include commonly used related phrases within the name like “news”, “tips”, etc 5. Use action keywords like “low cost”, “discount”, “buy”, “deals”, “get”, etc. 6. Use high level domains like.com,.net,.info,, or.org,

Some additional tips:

1. Use a specific keyword – or higher however, an extended tail keyword phrase – in your domain name. I do not suggest using multiple keywords and definitely DO NOT repeat the same keyword within the domain name.

2. Put your primary keyword at the beginning of the domain name. Let’s use an example to illustrate: Suppose you are selling garden tools. Not just any garden tools; you sell low-cost, high-quality garden tools. The name of your company is Garden Tool World. Using the tips higher than, you may purchase the domain names for your company. But what about your product?

The key here is to look for names for your product domain that people can be searching for. When a potential client goes to a hunt engine, can she or he explore for “low-value high-quality garden tools”? Or the client hunt for “Low cost Garden Tools”? From our earlier research, you’ll be able to find out what people are wanting for. Therefore if people are trying for “Low cost Garden Tools,” then your domain name would possibly be cheapgardentools dot com.

Choosing a domain name is an important part of the overall selling method and should not be taken lightly. Create positive your domain name represents your company, product, and image, and you’ll be setting a nice foundation for future sales.

3. If you run into problem in getting the domain name that you would like,, try using action words at the top of your domain name. Examples of this would include for sale, discount, on eBay, deals, etc. You’ll additionally use tips, blog or info., for example. If you had a web site using videos to coach roofers, you could go along with roofervideos.com. Another plan would be to place a number behind your keyword. For instance, cheapgardentools442.com would work just as well as cheapgardentools.com because your keyword phrase is at the start of the domain name.

4. Don’t be afraid to use keywords that reach out and grab attention. Words like warning, alert, cure and warning are all such terms.

5. By all means that, DO NOT use words in your domain name that don’t have anything to try to to with what it’s your web site is about.

half-dozen Use only well known high level domains such as.com,.internet,.information,.org &.us. Stay far from domains like.tv and.biz. Credibility is key – sticking with high level domain names will help you in that department. Of course, if you’ll be able to get.com, that’s the manner to travel, however if the name you want isn’t accessible in.com, one among the other top level names will be just fine.

If you find you’re having bother coming up with a site name for your venture, you’ll visit Nameboy.com. That website will generate masses of domain name suggestions for you based mostly on the keywords you enter. Another web site I wish to use is Instant Domain Search. This particular web site “helps you discover a domain name as fast as you can type.”

7. Stay away from domain names with hyphens in them. Whereas this was a smart idea, it not is. Using domain names with hyphens in them can have an adverse impact on your ability to rank highly within the search engines.

8. Keep it as short as possible. Although some places allow you to register a name with up to 63 characters, you’ve got to stay in mind that people need to be in a position to remember it and simply sort it into their browser. Try to register the shortest name that your customers and other web site guests will associate along with your internet site. The general rule of thumb is, keep it below seven characters if doable (not as well as the suffix). While the vast majority of your potential customers can be clicking on a link, there are those that can type in your domain name.

9. Go with.com when in the least possible.

Dot what? There are various suffixes on the market now. For businesses, we recommend a.com suffix. It is the primary extension that almost all folks attempt when looking out for a web site. Also, since it is one in all the oldest extensions,.com shows that your business has been around for a while which you have a well-established presence on the Web.

10. Register your domain now. Domain names are being snatched up faster than candy at the St. Patrick’s Day parade. You need to register soon unless you wish to induce stuck with “the-domain-name-that-no-one-wanted.net.” You do not have to possess a webmaster or an e-commerce department or a net design consultant or…. Heck, you don’t even need a net page. Simply get out there and register before you lose the chance to get the name you really want.

11. Raise around. When you have settled on several out there name choices, see what your friends and shoppers should say. A reputation which will make perfect sense to you will be too onerous for other people to remember. Is your domain straightforward to mention? Is it laborious to spell? Do you have to clarify why you chose the name?

12. Don’t spend tons of money. At only once, firms were ready to get away with charging reservation fees and a “necessary” $seventy InterNIC fee. A range of years ago, it had been decided that alternative companies ought to be in a position to compete to sell domain names. This has lowered costs dramatically. At the time I’m inscribing this, you’ll get a private.com domain at one&1 for as very little as $6.99 that is the most effective price out there by far. 1&1 is the only prime registrar that provides private registrations at no further cost.

13. An necessary facet of your domain name: You need to check to see if your domain has ever been used by someone else. If your whole new domain name was used for spam or unethical web practices, it will be extremely troublesome to urge it indexed in the main search engines. This can be not a difficulty you wish to deal with. Try your potential domain name and see if it’s ever been owned. If it’s been owned, take a peek at the archives to work out if somebody was breaking any rules with this domain. Trust me; you will thank me if you discover out that it has been abused within the past. There’s no reason to form search engine optimization more durable on us if we have a tendency to can avoid it!

If you think that if you have found the right domain name and have tried any previous use, but you’re just about certain if it is the one… register it anyway before somebody else does!

Which Internet Sites Are Set To Trade Well Over Xmas?

High street retailers have relied on the Christmas period for a large portion of their yearly revenue ever since commercialism got its hands on the Christian celebration. The same can also be said for those businesses trading online, and this year sees the highest level of competition ever among websites in terms of visibility and sales. But which sites are best placed this year to make the most money?

Supermarket Sites. As a number of the smaller offline companies have suffered from the recession and had to close their doors, their share of the markets have been captured largely by online supermarket sites, who have claimed 25% more of the toys and games market this year alone. Many experts have warned that these ’super-sites’ will eventually completely monopolise the markets as they eat up and put out of business the smaller independent sites. That said, their approach is certainly very effective and their shareholders are likely to be very happy come January.

Affiliates. Actual trading sites are not the only ones to see growth in number and size, affiliate sites have also benefited from online growth. These sites tend to advertise the products of larger successful internet sites such as IWOOT, and the larger sites then pay the affiliates commission on each lead they receive. As these affiliate sites are often owned by skilled internet marketers, they frequently get large traffic numbers and can therefore make large profits themselves, especially over busy holiday periods.

Specialised Sites. Even though supermarket sites that offer every product under the sun will do well this Christmas, more niche sites that have carved out a space for themselves in different markets will prosper also. Sites such as I Want One of Those, who sell gadgets and boys toys, will do very well this year as they have a loyal following of customers and can offer more specialised items that the bigger sites simply cannot.

Making Your Business Click

The lifeline of most businesses rely heavily on the amount of marketing support can be supplied. There is no doubt that marketing collateral in the form of establishing identity and brand existence are key factors in helping make businesses known. These marketing collaterals can be likened to arming the key personnel in a business such as business cards, flyers, brochures and multimedia material to be able to provide the necessary information and image that a company wants to project.

Marketing collateral does not have to be high cost in nature. Resourcefulness and innovation of the company through its current roster of personnel can help ignite and produce the necessary collaterals a business can lean on. Understandably, cost and expenses are two of the things that business owners are not too keen on hearing. But the supplement of expected outcomes from the investment of marketing collaterals through advertising and promotions will provide a better overview of what to results to expect from such programmed marketing efforts by assigned people of the company.

The hardest part of establishing a business is to spread the word that such a company and its products or services are indeed available. The success of a business lies heavily in providing the necessary information of the existence of such, the purpose of which is to try and penetrate a market properly.

To start things off, the need for proper product or service orientation should be established. Consumers will not immediately rely on mere image and word of mouth. This is the job that is tasked for most marketing executives, to build on the product and make the consumers understand the benefits and fruits that the product brings. This is best done through the use of supporting promotional materials in the form of flyers, posters, and TV commercials if costs are permitted. Making such mediums available to consumers in the easiest way possible for them to get acquainted with the product being pushed is the best way to kick off a product’s existence in the market.

After a successful product orientation towards the target market that a company has focused on, the next thing to handle is the places where the product will be available. Supermarkets, department stores, convenience stores, and specialty shops, the mode of availability will be the critical aspect since this will largely depend if the product is readily available. For sure, people will not go out of their way to exert much effort in finding where the product may be. Thus it is the task of the business personnel to make sure that all possible distribution channels are covered, with the target market class under consideration as well. While flyers and posters may be spread all throughout affiliated stores and outlets, it is still the best practice to make sure that the product itself is available in target modes of distribution.

The set price for most consumer goods and commodities today play an important role in enticing consumer demand. While this is more psychological in nature, it cannot be discounted that business executives must determine an acceptable price to jack up their sales and consumer patronization. Pricing has its share of conflicts. Low prices may carry with it low quality product tags, while higher priced goods may push customers to look for alternative products. This is why it is essential that research and development teams must prepare a good comparison of product availability before finally deciding on a set price. The price should also consider the usual costs such as the administrative and operations cost, mark-ups and other related costs for manufacturing the product. The marketing collaterals will also fall under the administrative and operations cost, usually under the advertising and promotions part.

Defining the target market area as well as the consumer class will help determine the degree of saturation in the market a business should aim for. Identifying where the target market class resides or stays in is a good way to help in trimming down the area needed for saturation. Focusing the marketing collaterals in the area where the identified consumer class is situated is a good way to establish identity in the area. This should be a good way to start in effectively covering key areas for segregation prior to aiming for a larger market share.

The attention, complaints and distribution of the product or service still lied in the hands of the people hired to do the life blood of the company. Similar to a soldier going off to war, providing the sales force with business cards, marketing portfolios and other marketing paraphernalia is the best way to make an impact. Other than motivating the sales people to bring in the sales, making sure that they have the necessary materials to show are mirror-like images of the company. They represent the company and whatever they project speaks entirely for the business venture.

Online Business Opportunity With The Reverse Funnel System

Recently, Ty Coughlin and his team called the Inner Circle have developed a new online business called the Reverse Funnel System. This system is targeted towards anybody with a computer and an internet connection. I thought this was strange that it was available to anyone, so I started to do my usual investigation that I always go through when something this big hits the market. My normal inquiries generally lead me down a path of disappointment and broken promises. However, this time I was truly surprised at what I found.

I could not believe that so many members of the Reverse Funnel System were having the success that most in other organizations achieve, only after years of failing and starting over. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that non of its members are automatically shipped hundreds of dollars worth of products every month to sell, which normally gets stuck with the team members. As a matter of fact, The Reverse Funnel System members don’t ever touch the product that they sell. Everything is fully automated and done online.

How does the system work? The answer lies in the question. It is the system that few others have that makes this such a successful adventure. Ty’s motto is “Systems Work-People Fail”. What the Inner Circle has done is taken out the human element in the sales process. This system makes it simple for-that’s right-anyone with a computer and an internet connection to use. Even those with absolutely no internet marketing experience have made sales with the Reverse Funnel System. I recently spoke with a member who made nine sales in his very first week. The only problem he had was that he did not set up his credit card processor to except a large enough volume of sales in a given month.

Ty and his group have done 90% of the work normally involved in running an online home based business. This includes setting up personal web pages, lead capture pages, auto-responder emails, tracking of all campaign stats, and conducting surveys for potential new members and many other pivotal items in running a successful business.

The Reverse Funnel System even includes a simple to use web based back office. Here you can click on the “Advertiser Database” button and be directed to thousands of sites to place ads directly on the internet. This is the 10% of work that is left to RFS members. The more people that they send to their personal web sites that are included in the Reverse Funnel System, the more likely that sales will follow.

One member explained it to me like this. He said it was like taking a foot long piece of pipe and shoving pebbles into it. Keep shoving more and more pebbles into it. The pebbles are those that visit the members’ sites. Eventually pebbles begin to get shoved through the other side of the pipe in the form of sales. The only thing that RFS members are left to do is market their web sites. That is the remaining 10% which is still helped along by the Reverse Funnel System.

Another member told me the she has never had so much support in any business that she has ever been apart of. She explained that the (2) $1000 commissions is the backbone of the entire program. I wasn’t sure what she was talking about so she explained in a little more detail. Not only do members receive a $1000 commission per sale, but so do their up line sponsors. So members not only have the support of RFS but also a one on one relationship with their sponsors. She explained that her goal, which she is close to achieving, is to have 60 top line team members signed up. She said that once this is done, all she has to do is coach her team. All she would need to make $15000 every week is a quarter of her team making only one sale.

This is an amazing system that Ty Coughlin has developed. There are thousands of team members that are so grateful for this system, as it has changed their lives forever. I hope that now you can understand how powerful and helpful that the Reverse Funnel System is and why it is taking the home based internet business industry over.

Online credit card processors help to make online shopping hassle free. Online credit card processors are used by large or small businesses. Many times clients will post feedback when they have had a positive or negative experience with a company.

In addition to personal and business security, fully researching the various different online credit card processors is a potential way to increase your profits. For allowing you to use their services, you are charged a fee. The fee and rates will depend on the online credit card processor in question. For this reason, it is important to shop around and find the best value for your money. Although cheaper rates are nice, it is not always better. Go with your gut instinct, if something seems too good to be true it may be. Research is an important tool in keeping your profits intact.

It is not uncommon to come across online credit card processors that offer certain guidelines or restrictions on their services. For example, there may be a select few of online credit card processors that limit the amount of sales it processes. This limit may be monthly, weekly, or even daily. If your business becomes a success, this restriction could only hurt it and could cause you to lose potential profits.

Another restriction may include the type of business that you are operating. Although each online credit card processor is different and they tend to operate under different standards, some online businesses may be a violation of their standards. A few examples of the businesses that online credit card processors may refuse to service are gambling sites, adult sties, or pharmacies. Before entering into a contract with an online credit card processing company, it is important to read through their contract rules and guidelines.

Credit cards are used by consumers because they are a convenient and easy way to participate in online shopping. If you are operating an online business, whether it be large or small, consider accepting online credit cards. Site Search As Key Performance Indicator

Do you know what’s happening in your own site search? Understanding site search is one of the most important KPI (Key Performance Indicator) you should measure. According to a Forrester study, over 50 percent of major web sites fail in search usability. When your search fails to deliver, your conversion suffers. A low converting site will result is less sales and decreased revenue. Search is not just another nice feature to have. You have to think of search as a revenue generating part of your business.

Your company works hard to drive traffic to your site. Many visitors will use your on site search instead of browsing through your site. Online shoppers want to use site search to expedite the shopping experience. The faster and easier they can locate the product they are looking for the more likely they’ll buy on your site. The more roadblock you set in place to inconvenience the shopper, the more likely they’ll buy from someone else.

Do you know what they are searching for? Are you in any way measuring what search phrases are queried on your site? It is not enough to have site search as a feature. You must analyze it. You have to understand it. Then, you have to make adjustments based on your findings.

The best place to start learning about your site search is through the search log files. If you don’t monitor your log files, you will fail to gain an insight into what your customers are looking for on your site. Understanding site search is a KPI that should be part of your tactical operations. Learning about site search will tell you what your customers are looking for.

In addition to understanding what site visitors are searching for, you have to test what results yield from searches. For example, if your customers are searching for “return policy” what results are they shown? Are the search results relevant to the search queries? If the result you get is not the best possible result, you have to tweak you search engine. The top few results must be relevant, because searchers are not interested in reading deep down your search results. Result number 10 is infinitely more irrelevant than result number 1.

Every reasonable search phrase should result in relevant search results. For example, if the site searcher types “return policy” in the search field, the search should result in some result. Every e-commerce site should have a return policy; therefore, the site search should yield the relevant result. One of the worst possible outcomes for a search query would be no result. If a user types any relevant key phrase, it should result in relevant results. If they don’t, your search is failing your customers.

Site search is a tool to enhance customer satisfaction. If it works as it is supposed to, it has done its job. If site search fails it becomes a frustrating experience instead of a positive experience resulting in lower conversion rates, lost sales opportunities, loss of revenue and unhappy site visitors.

The Advantage Of Going After A Nook On The Web

Focusing on a nook to the exclusion of everything else is a tremendous way to make money.

The Advantage of Going After A Nook On The Web

When we talk about a nook, we are merely focusing on a specific area of a service or product sector. Think of nooks and crannies in a room. A simple, but clear, example of a nook would be Lasik eye surgery. It is a nook within the larger field of eye care and much larger field of medical services. The key to making money in your particular area is to focus on a specific nook that provides either a large volume of business or small volume with lucrative profit margins.

One of the biggest nook advantages is the ability to quickly become a dominant player in the area in question. By definition, there is almost always a limited pool of competitors in the market area, either for the area itself or the geographic limitation. Assume you are offering Lasik eye services. There are a limited number of medical professionals in your area offering the same thing. This means you have an outstanding opportunity to become the dominant personality. You can go get appearances on the local television and radio shows, publish articles in the paper and so on. News outlets are desperate for such quality content.

On the web, the same concept applies with a slightly different orientation. You want to focus on your nook to the exclusion of everything else. This sounds simple, but can be difficult to implement. There is an incredible temptation to expand a site beyond the nook in question. The motivation, of course, is greed. We all tend to think that if we offer tour services to London, our clientele would obviously be interested in buying soccer shirts for the professional teams in London. Wrong. Define your nook and stick to it. Even if you sell a few shirts, you risk distracting your prospects from purchasing a tour.

The web also provides unique advantages found in no other business medium. One of the dominant ways to market any business is to write content for periodicals. I am talking about informative articles, not advertisements. If you wrote an article for the local paper and they included it in their Sunday edition, how would you be viewed? It would be a lot more effective than an advertisement and, over time, you would become a trusted source for most readers. Whenever they thought of your area of expertise, they would come to you or your business. Talk about a goldmine!

On the web, you can take this example to the extreme. There are numerous sites known as article directories. These sites collect articles for an interesting audience. Websites, blogs and online newsletters need content all of the time. They use article directories to find the content. You should submit articles to the directories under the category applicable to your business. If you make the articles informative, you will quickly become a credible source and they will use your articles again and again. It is like being published in your local paper and a few hundred papers in other cities.

In summary, find your nook or cranny and stick to it.

Visitors Leave After Seeing My Home Page – Aye, Carumba!

One of the keys to a profitable web site is analyzing your hits to visitor ratio. What does it mean if you have a low hit to visitor ratio? This article provides the answer

No Depth

An effective means for analyzing web site traffic is to look at the number of hits per visitor for a time period. To do this, you simply divide the number of hits by the number of visitors for the time period in question. Time periods can be a day, week, month or quarter of a year. Don’t look at any time smaller than a day as the data may not create an accurate picture of the traffic.

Assume you have the best damn dang hair net site on the net. You have over 1,000 hair nets of every variation, color, material and weave. For those of you not “in the know”, a hair net is one of those things people working in fast food places have to wear. I have no idea why, but I am sure there was a lawsuit once that makes complete and total sense.

Anyway, a site with over 1,000 hair nets should have a massive number of pages. Logically, every visitor to the site should click through more than a few pages while looking for the perfect specimen. Unfortunately, you find the server stats tell a different story.

In reviewing server stats, you learn that on average the site receives 5,000 visitors a day and 10,000 hits. Dividing hits by visitors, you discover to your dismay each visitor is looking at only two pages on average. This information is supported by the fact you’re only averaging a few sales a day. Aye, Carumba!

There are a few possible reasons for this poor performance:

1. Slow Site: A site with 1,000 products is going to require a very careful database design. I would guess 70 percent of database sites are fatally slow. By fatally, I mean they load so slowly that most dial-up users can’t navigate in the site. We are talking 30 to 40 second page load times. If you have this problem, you are immediately losing the 45 percent of people using dial-up.

2. Click Fraud: If you are running a PPC campaign, you must track the clicks in the campaign. A low hit to visitor ratio can often mean your PPC ads are being artificially clicked as such clickers rarely venture into the internal pages of a site.

3. Poor Advertising: This one is purely your fault. Your advertising must focus on keywords that are relevant to your site. If you are selling hair nets, don’t place ads under “hair styling.” If you do, people will click your ad, see hair nets and immediately leave. Know your limitations!

There can be a variety of reasons for low hit to visitor ratios. More often than not, slow load times are the answer. If the site is fast, then you need to dig deeper so you can figure out a way to make your visitors do the same.
